Emerging from a profound sense of loss and disconnection from oneself, 'Divine Intervention' is a sequential art piece that explores themes of renewal and transcendence through out-of-body experiences. It portrays the journey of returning to oneself with greater strength and resilience.
Born in San Salvador, El Salvador, Jocelyn Sanchez is an interdisciplinary artist and freelance illustrator who creates work under the moniker of “creamy skeletons.” Jocelyn graduated in 2015 with a BFA in Visual Arts from Simon Fraser University in Vancouver B.C, and followed up with an M.A in Animation from the University of South Wales in the UK in 2016. Her work can be described as self-reflexive and impulsive through the mediums of illustration and digital media. Influenced by the styles of pop surrealism and Latin folk art, Jocelyn’s work contains themes of cultural identity and memory to explore feelings of diaspora, magic and escapism in her work. She is currently based in Vancouver, BC, where she works as a graphic designer and art educator for the community.
