Gary Andrews (born 1961) is a British illustrator and cartoonist, animation artist, film, television and theatre director, actor, father of two... and a widower. His cartoon diary has become his daily therapy for coping with the grief of the sudden loss of his wife while managing the care of two children. He continues to maintain his cartoon diary, posting a cartoon strip every day on Twitter and Instagram under the handle @GaryScribbler.
He is an ambassador for Marie Curie (mariecurie.org.uk), a UK charity that has been providing hospice and palliative care and supporting terminally ill patients in the UK since 1950, and Winston's Wish (winstonswish.org), an organisation providing specialist care for children and teenagers following the loss of a loved one. Since 2019, he has been an ambassador for The Big Draw (thebigdraw.org), an arts education charity that promotes visual literacy using drawing as a universally understood means of expression.
Through the UK Sepsis Trust (sepsistrust.org) he raises awareness of the dangers of sepsis, which caused the death of his wife Joy.
