Kateřina Čupová is an illustrator and author of comics with a wide range. From manga to classic literature, from black-and-white palette to colour, from fanzines to big publishing houses, from praise at school to the Muriel Award. Where does she find inspiration for her work? The author talks about the comics that have inspired and continue to inspire her.
Kateřina Čupová (* 1992, Ostrava) graduated from the animation studio at the Faculty of Multimedia Communications at the University of Technology in Zlín. She has published short comic works in magazines and anthologies such as AARGH!, Art+Antiques, Bublifuk, KomiksFest revue and Vějíř. She published the webcomic Author's apprentice using the Kickstarter platform. She has been nominated for the Muriel Award several times, e.g. for the comic books R.U.R. and Mug Boil (2022). She won the award for Kašna (Best Short Comic, 2015) and Druhý břeh (Best Short Comic, 2020). One of their latest comic works is the first volume of the comic series Prašina, published by the publisher. Paseka in 2023.
