The Stone of Destiny is a comic trilogy in which we witness the journey of the protagonist: a stone with human limbs and a stoic expression on its face. The narrative of this abstractly autobiographical comic is built around individual events that thematise self-discovery and finding one's place in the world, setting too high expectations, hurting a loved one, rejecting beauty standards, fear of failure and manipulative relationships.


Julie Černá comes from the small town of Strážnice in the south of Moravia. She studies at UMPRUM in the fourth year of the Animation and Film Studio. Besides animation, she is also endlessly enjoying the form of illustration and original comics. In her projects, she tries to depict, among other things, the feeling of omnipresent melancholy, which is hidden inside the experience of happiness, and the specific emotion of reminiscent optimism.
